Steve Holland: The Torn Shirt Sessions-The Deluxe Edition is my seventh book. My first book, MilesStyle: The Fashion of Miles Davis is a sartorial biography of the famed jazz musician, regarded as one of the best dressed men of the 20th century. My second book Black to the Movies (and other Pop Culture Musings) was released earlier this year and is a combination of movie reviews that I've written, Social Media essays about film and a bit of memoir from my years in the radio, music and film industries. Both books are available at amazon.com.
I have varied interests and write mainly for the enjoyment of it. There are four books that comprise The Steve Holland Library: an earlier edition of The Torn Shirt Sessions, The World's Greatest Illustration Art Model, Cowboy and Paperback Hero.
I have also recently produced my first graphic novel, Fargo: Hell on Wheels by John Benteen, adapted and illustrated by Howard Chaykin and am currently finishing Graphic Samurai: The Art of Denys Cowan, about the career of the legendary comic book artist. It will be released later in 2025.
Thanks for your interest, I hope you enjoy the blog and the books! Follow gizmoepress.com to keep up with my new projects.

Did you know Steve Holland? Have any stories to share? Send me your stories, photos or whatever you have and I'll post them here on the site. Even if it's only a story of your first exposure to his work, or a favorite piece of art that he posed for, let me know and I'll pass it on!
Steve Holland posed for thousands and thousands of paperbacks, magazine and comic book covers, in addition to interior pages and commercial advertising. While I've amassed a large selection of reference photos and art, I'm always looking for more for a deluxe edition of the book. If you have anything that you're willing to share or any leads you can provide, feel free to email me here at mstradford@mac.com, or on Facebook at mstradford or Instagram @mstradford.
